Aimed Too High

Today’s writing prompt at dVerse Poet’s Pub is for every poem to begin like this:
Once upon a _________ (you fill in the blank with any word except “time”) So a poem starting with Once upon a time would NOT fit the prompt! BUT, poems starting like this, for example, do fit the prompt:
Once upon a lily pad
Once upon a glimmer
Once upon a noodle
Once upon a midnight, etc…

Once upon a shot

I took my best and missed; the

one who got away.

  1. Missed the one that got away – the dream, love, success or is it something darker? Pondering

The photo and words leave the reader with a bit of mystery. Well done..

  4. Short but oh the possibilities! :) Brings to mind the song in Hamilton :) Not going to miss my shot — but this one does.

    1. Thank you, Beverly! When I wrote this I had a relationship in mind. I guess it wasn’t as obvious as I thought. :-)
