Malcolm driving to work when all of a sudden, his horn went off. After he pulled over, he tried punching every button is his car, but the horn wouldn’t shut up. Finally, he got out and lifted the bonnet. He had no idea what he was looking at, of course, but it seemed like the thing to do.
Other drivers drove past, laughing and pointing at poor Malcolm but no one stopped to help.
“Dirty buggers,” Malcolm muttered.
The horn continued to blast away as Malcom hunted for the source.
It was no use. He couldn’t find it. When it came to automobiles, Malcolm was as useless as a button on a sock. Malcolm closed the bonnet and leaned against the front of the car. Waiting for something, anything to happen.
And suddenly, it did. The horn stopped, and the care backed itself up, clicked on the turn signal and eased onto the road.
Malcolm stood there with his mouth hanging open as he watched his car drive itself away.
As he hitchhiked his way back home, Malcolm thought about what he should do. He decided against calling the police and telling them his car drove away without him. He was a terrible liar so he couldn’t make anything up that would be believable.
Just then, a car pulled up behind him.
Thank God, finally a ride.
But no. It was his very own car that had come back to get him!
He hopped in and drove away.
Malcolm never told anyone what happened. Clearly, no one would ever have believed him.
So, it was their little secret, just Malcolm’s and Christine’s.
