The Abject Muse: About

I never know what to write for these things.

My name is Susan Marie Shuman and I currently live in Birmingham, AL. I’m a freelance writer, editor, proofreader; all-around late-bloomer, and introvert. In the past, I’ve worked as a data entry clerk, admin assistant, bartender, waitress, and caregiver to the elderly. I am also the author of three books, Gutter Ball: A Collection of Short Stories, Eddie’s Underwear & Other Shorts, and Bad Meringue & Other Stories and The Homunculus Heroes, which is a novel. You can find them all on my Amazon Author’s Page, right here.

I’ve also compiled and edited several books for Rabbi Stephen Lewis Fuchs, the most current one being And Often the First Jew.

If I weren’t a writer, most likely I’d be a linguistic anthropologist — that’s where the real money is! (kidding)

If and when I decide to grow up I want to be a crash test dummy and wear a cool uniform like Larry here:

  1. Oh… the site you want for fiction is linked to this title (if you are looking for flash fiction):
    Cowardly, Chloe Goes Camping

I also have other sites. The daily place is sort of on hold for the moment.
The long verse site, is another place. My attempt at organization.
But you don’t have to follow any of them.

I put the prompt link in the post if there is one – I can’t get the icon to switch between blogs.
Used to be able to do that easily. now not so much. Sorry… for the confusion.

    Thanks for stopping by. ~Jules

      1. Pretty great. I think B’ham is pretty great too. Trying to get brave enough to hang out at some poetry out loud slams here, might be braver to tryB’ham first, have you done any of those there?

  2. There is a top shelf at the pinnacle of my unreasonably ginormous desk, and upon it rest many items, including…drum roll, please…a crash test dummy.
