His voice reminded her of sandpaper against cement. Did he gargle with gravel?

She wondered if it hurt for him to speak because it sure as hell hurt to listen.

 She hated when these speakers came to her school. There was no way to sneak out.

Plus, you were forced to pay attention because you had to write a paper about it afterward.

That was an issue since she could barely make out what he was saying.

Something about smoking and lung cancer?

Speaking of which, she hadn’t had a ciggie since the bus stop.

Will this guy shut up?

  2. I loved your description of the man’s voice. I’ve known many people with that same gravelly voice… mostly women though.
