I may as well have tried
to tame a Mustang stallion
or steal a mirage
thinking my charms were enough
to capture your heart and
you would love me back.

Excellent interpretation Susan, of this piece you chose of Beverly’s art. Wonderful choice!
Thank you, Rob!
Thank you, Vivian. Your comment means a lot to me. :-)
There is so much meaning in your poem. I love the way you played with the words.
But if you hadn’t tried, you would always have dreamed about taming the horse…
This is true, Bjorn. However, I also would not have been kicked in the teeth by said horse. Either way in my experience, the heart does what it wants and we hope for the best. :-)
Moving…so human. Thank you! Bev
Thank *you*!
Nice comparison of stealing a mirage to using one’s charms.
Thank you Frank. Interesting…I hadn’t thought of that.
Thank you, Beverly. I appreciate your stopping by & commenting!
Nice analogy of romance rebuffed!
I love this poem. The words and the painting blend so well!
Thanks so much, rothpoetry. Glad you enjoyed!
Your poem is so heartfelt, Susan, it brought a tears to my eyes.
Thank you, Kim. It was tough to write.
Susan your musing on heartache is acutely resonant.
Thank you, Lisa. I kind of wish it wasn’t, if you get my drift. :-).
You are welcome, and yes, I do.
Sometimes love is impossible, unfortunately.
The brevity of your poem is very effective. A perfect pairing!
Thank you Mish! Yes, love is impossible most times. ;-)
I guess charm wasn’t enough – so sad.
I’ve learned charm is rarely enough. Sometimes it works as a Band-Aid. Thank you, Truedessa!
