It’s Quatrain Monday over at the dVerse Poets Pub. The prompt is the word “set.”

ℵ

Ink hadn’t even set

on the weddin’ invites

b’fore Jeff was out hookin’ his-self up

with anything female what had a pulse.

Folks felt sorry for “Sweet Joni” gettin’

knocked-up but

what hardly nobody knew

was that kid wasn’t even Jeff’s.

Nope.

Sure wasn’t.

I apologize for this late reading of your poem. I’ve been overwhelmed with work and family stuff. I didn’t see that twist coming! I wonder if they stay together unhappily ever after?

I hadn’t thought about that Merril, but I think they should stay together and make each other miserable for awhile, and then eventually fall in love.

It looks like both were getting hooked up.

A match made in heaven ;) You never know what the real story is unless it’s yourself, and even then sometimes it’s a mystery. I like the “dialect” you used for it, Susan.

That’s the truth, Lisa. Life is a mystery even if it’s your own.. Glad you enjoyed!

What an ironic twist at the end! Well done!
