Share Your World | 5/3/2021

It’s Monday again which means it’s time for Share Your World hosted by Melanie of SparksfromaCombustibleMind fame.

Would you rather be a super nice person and be depressed all your life, or be happy and a total *sshole?  (Credit goes to Cyranny for this question, aired on one of her “Cyranny’s Quickies” posts.)

I’m not sure either is possible. If someone were a true and total asshole, most likely they would have zero friends, never find love, nor would s/he be able to hold a decent job. Unless s/he were elected POTUS. On the other paw, if someone were depressed for life, how could they even begin to be super nice?

Have you ever made someone cry?

Yes, and I feel horrible about it.

Are you a dreamer or a go-getter?

Both. First I dream it, then I go out & get it!

If you were in a band, what instrument would you play?

The mandolin. In fact, learning to play is on my bucket list.

  1. The mandolin? I like the idea!

I actually think that most depressed people are fundamentally nice. Since no one is depressed “all the time”, when emerging from the depths of despair the person is likely to see the world in a more positive way – that is, they appreciate life because when they’re depressed they appreciate anything, and they appreciate (and are therefore nice to) people because during depression they were most likely isolated. But I agree, the choices don’t make total sense!

    1. Yes. I think if one were depressed all of the time, they would be unable to function o any level.

  2. Thank you for Sharing Your World! What great answers! Playing the mandolin is a first, everyone so far has chosen guitar or piano or (surprisingly to me) drums. Some want to be singers. If the group ever gets together, I think we’ll have an awesome sound! ;) It’s a gift to be able to go out and get our dreams, and that mix is perfect! Have an amazing week!
