Curb Appeal

PHOTO PROMPT © Liz Young

It’s time for Friday Fictioneers again! This week our host, Rochelle Wisoff-Fields has chosen the above image as our visual prompt. 100 words.

“Oh, Daphne!” Ginger exclaimed. “I love what you’ve done with the place. Really kicks up the curb appeal.”

“Why, thank you, Ginger!” Daphne gushed. “Our Montague created it. He’s majoring in Extreme Sculpture at Princeton, you know.”

“Indeed.” Ginger replied. “The delicate arrangement of bricks and concrete on the sidewalk is phenomenal. Signs of a true artiste!”

“Signs of a true idiot, you mean!” Daphne’s husband interjected.

“Alfred!” Daphne gasped. “Our son —”

“Our son is going to put us in the poor house! You know how many cars I’ve had to buy so he can crash them into… art?

All hobbies have a cost, but using newish cars, that’s a no no at least in my book that is.

  8. Art-that’s novel. Mind you there is a nightclub in Glasgow with half-a-car protruding at 1st floor level into the street. Was that one of his?

  11. If art wants to be made, it wants to be made. That was fun. If he gets famous, he can pay Dad back.

  13. I’ve seen art that looks like a train wreck so it’s no surprise an artist is doing car wrecks. Dad needs to start shopping at the junkyard and son can wing it :) Creative story!

  16. Crashed cars as art, I suppose it is the next logical step. I wonder if the insurance pay out if the accident is seen as art?
