3TC MM20 | Margins of Mayhem

With a faint grin, Jimmy repeated himself, only louder: “I said, Jesus Christ, Iggy!”

  1. I’ve heard some horrific stories regarding nuns teaching practices and their pupils.
    Thanks for joining in.

    1. Those stories are true, Di. Unfortunately.

  2. In Eighth Grade I was in catholic School and Sister Laurentine the math teacher would crack students on their knuckles if she saw they were on the wrong page.

    1. Hi Jim. I hear so many nun horror stories. I have one too. In 2nd grade I had a vicious nun who grabbed me by the back of the neck and pounded my head on the desk. That’s when I decided Catholicism wasn’t for me. And I was right! Found out decades later that I’m a Jew.

      1. I think that getting cracked on my knuckles actually helped me, as I was able to stay on the right page after that, which made it easier for me to understand what was happening in Math class. How did you find out they you were a Jew, as that must be an interesting story.

      2. I have a couple of cousins who suspected our heritage. After both of my parents had passed, I did some research and learned that we were more than likely Jewish. Then to make sure I did one of those genealogy tests where you spit into a tube, and sure enough!

      3. PS, getting my head pounded on the desk did nothing to enhance my existence. :-)

      4. That was very cruel to do that to a 2nd grader.

      5. She was nuts. I just posted the poem I had written several years ago. It’s called “2nd Grade & Why I’m not Catholic.” That tells the whole story.

  3. Still agasp from the last tale of a catholic school kid. It is a wonder more of you didn’t turn out to be serial killers.

    1. Maybe some did. I hope not, but you never know. I do know some of us ended up with trust issues.
