Barbie’s Big Adventure

It’s time once again for What do you See? Sadje of Keep it Alive fame is our host. We are to write a poem, short story or caption relative to the image below.

“What’s wrong Barbz? You seem a little tense or something.”

“I’m afraid Ken will find out.” Barbie looked at Kevin as tears welled in her eyes. “Aren’t you?”

Kevin shrugged. “Not particularly. How’s he going to find out? He’s at work, isn’t he?”

“I suppose so.” Barbie sighed. “I just feel so… unfaithful! You’re his twin brother, after all.”

“You want me to take you home and we can forget the whole thing? Just say the word.” Kevin snapped.

“Oh, please don’t be angry with me Kevvy-Wevvy.” Barbie tried to back pedal. She wasn’t used to being around angry men. “I’m just a little nervous. Never done anything like this before.”

“Well, I’m glad I’m the first.” He winked at Barbie. “How about that spot over there? Looks like the perfect place for us.”

The first? What was he talking about? I hope he doesn’t think that I’m that kind of girl!

“Huh? Oh, yeah. That looks great.”

“How ’bout a little enthusiasm?” With that, Kevin laid the best kiss she’d ever had right smack on her lips. It was long, slow, and sensual rather than the wet, sloppy ones she got from Ken.

They unpacked the car and set up their picnic beneath an old weeping willow tree.

This is so perfect, Kevin! I’m so happy to be here with you.” She gave him a peck on the cheek.

“Me too, Barbz.” Kevin took the pizza out of the big McDonald’s bag that hopefully kept it warm. Barbie didn’t seem to notice so he didn’t have to make up a lie. He didn’t think she’d understand about taking last night’s date to McDonald’s.

“Oooh! Pizza! I love pizza.” Barbie squealed. “What’s for dessert?”

There was an odd look in his eye. His voice was suddenly gravelly. “You, Barbz. Just you.” He grabbed her arm. “Let’s have dessert first. Whaddaya say?”

That’s when her flight or fight response kicked in.

She knew she could take him, so she opted to fight. What Kevin didn’t know was that she wasn’t just any old Barbie. She was Kung Fu Barbie!

And then she commenced to prove it.

Afterward, Barbie smiled in satisfaction. Ken would’ve been proud. Well, maybe not…
