Your three words today are:
HERO
HAND
MIRROR
Annalise gazed into her hand mirror and sighed. It was no use. All the money she spent on beauty creams, facials masques, Botox and lip fillers was all for naught. Not to mention the crazy diets, weight loss pills, and Fat Farms. She looked exactly the same as she always did: Chubby and homely.
Why can’t I look like my sister and the rest of the family? I’m tired of wearing a paper bag over my head in public. At least they finally let me cut tiny eye holes in it. Damn decent of them.
Somehow, Annalise let the hand mirror slip from her hand. It shattered when it hit the floor.
Oh, that’s just swell. She looked down at the shards through a blur of tears. Seven years bad luck on top of it all!
A puff a smoke began to rise from the shattered pieces, spiraling gracefully toward the ceiling. Annalise considered running but was mesmerized by elegance of the smoky swirls.
Suddenly the smoke dissipated, and a nine-foot-tall, handsome monster of man stood before her.
“Here to help ya, not to hurtcha, Ma’am.”
Annalise stared at him with her mouth hanging open. Finally, she found her voice. “Who? What? How?…”
“Pardon my manners Annalise. My name is Omar, Hero to the Homely.”
“Wow.”
“Indeed. Omar agreed. I am here today to grant you one wish. Just one, so give it some thought and choose wisely.
Annalise beamed at him. “Okay, give me a minute. I have to think!”
“Of course, dear. Take your time.” Omar said. “I’m in no hurry.”
Annalise’s mind raced. It was between becoming svelte and sexy or bold and beautiful.
“Oh, I wish I could decide!”
With that, Omar was gone. Annalise had made her decision, but it didn’t matter now.
It took a minute to sink in. “Bloody hell!” Annalise collapsed to the floor in tears.
After a good cry, she found a broom and dustpan and began sweeping.
