Donna hated runny eggs. She specifically asked the server that the yolks and the whites be cooked — not snotty. Of course, her server, Madeline, was nowhere in sight. It’s funny how when they know there’s a problem waitstaff disappear. Donna was a server once. She knows how it is.

“Madeline!” Donna shouted. “Madeline, my eggs are runny!” She had the attention of the patrons but the waitstaff scattered.

Soon, Madeline sauntered out of the kitchen as if she were going to the shootout at the OK corral. Her eyes fixed on Donna, hands in her uniform pockets.

“There you are!” Donna said sweetly.

“Is there a problem?” Madeline asked

“My eggs are runny, dear. Remember I asked you to make sure they were cooked?”

“Let me fix that for you, dear.”

Madeline whipped out a torche, like they use for crème brûlée, and commenced to brown Donna’s eggs. Unfortunately, the hashbrowns caught fire and began smoking and burning. Madeline then dumped ice water on the plate to put the fire out.

Donna was speechless. She had a funny feeling in her tummy that made her want to throw up. But she didn’t.

“Can I get you anything else?”

Donna stared at the disgusting mess on her plate. “No, no thanks. I’m good.”

Madeline slammed the tab on the table. “Have a nice day, ma’am.”

As Madeline turned to walk away, Donna grabbed a handful of the slop and hurled it at Madeline’s back.

SPLAT!

“Food fight!” Donna yelled.

The place went wild!
