“Hey there, Ms. Abrams.” Louie leaned one arm against the door post “Ready to go to the show?”
“Oh, for cripes sake, Louie. Ya look like a greaser!” Sophie laughed. “Aren’t you ever gonna grow up?”
“Hadn’t planned on it.” Louie walked into the house and replied. “You about ready?”
“It’s always so cold in those theaters.” Sophie called over her shoulder on the way to her bedroom. “Let me grab a shawl.”
Sophie let out a terrifying scream.
“Louie rushed into the bedroom, ‘What is it? What happened?” Before she could answer Louie saw what happened. Misshapen swastikas scrawled in black and blue crayon. Misspelled antisemitic graffiti on another wall.
“Damn it!” Louie said. “Not again.”
“Crayons, this time,” Sophie shook her head. “Kids did this? How? When?”
“Don’t touch anything.” Louie picked up the phone. “I’m calling.”
“Don’t worry,” Sophie sighed. “I know the drill.”
