The prompt at dVerse Poets Pub today is Time and What if?
Remember the night
of the silver midnight moon
when the stars were
bigger and shinier than
they should have been?
What if we’d wished on the
one that had fallen—
a quicksilver flash in the sky—
instead of falling, so easily, ourselves?
What if, instead of
the straight, clear shot, we’d chosen
the other path and strolled it
hand-in-hand?
The winding, rutted, uphill trail
That would’ve given us
pause, to think and
think again.
